Japanese People Battling the Air

Totally mesmerizing video, put to Nujabes beats, featuring just what it says: Japanese people running, swimming through air (I am surprised that they don't altogether take flight). Funny and weird at once:

The Mushroom Cloud

Not so much scary, as simply jaw-dropping - photo taken in Novosibirsk area in Russia, near village Kolyvan:

Similarly epic, even if HDR-enhanced on computer is this thunderstorm image:

Dubai, through the lens of a Retrofuturistic camera

The architecture of Dubai on these pictures does look like illustrations from the 1930s science fiction pulps... There is a reason for that: the images were made using Gustave Le Gray's waxed paper negative process on an 1857 camera:

"Light From Within", by Marc Adamus

"Very rarely, when the lowest of tides falls at sunset on just the right week or two each year when the sun sets at the end of this enormous sea cave on the Oregon coast can one witness this event of light and wonder, as huge waves rip down the 20 meter wide tunnel and explode onto the shore at your feet, illuminated in the glow from the mist in the opening beyond."

Make sure to see other incredible landscape photography by Marc Adamus here.

The House on the Borderland

Even if you did not read William Hope Hodgson's masterpiece of the surreal and fantastic "The House on the Borderland", you would appreciate the mystery and singular uniqueness of the location (the Island of Elliðaey, near Vestmannaeyjar, Iceland):

Here is an image with a similar feel: you can't build a house on this iceberg, but you can enjoy solitude inside a helicopter -

"Tempus / Time" Graphic from 1593: Could it be Wikipedia logo in the background?

Or is it the first 3-D sphere jigsaw puzzle? Well, in any case, this is a fantastic example of the "Emblem Books" (info) that were very popular in the Medieval times - perhaps the predecessors of comic books and graphic novels of our time.
